Training for Action Group Trainers

Saturday 5th August, 9am-5pm
GetUp office, 3/15 Lamington St Newfarm, Brisbane

A one day workshop focused on building skills to train and facilitate volunteer action groups.

Teams of grassroots activists are crucial to scaling up people power and having impact in key campaigns. These groups flourish when they have a strong sense of purpose, healthy cultures and communication, and the skills to act effectively. Trainers and facilitators can make a huge difference to the power of groups.

The workshop will include:

  • How to run engaging short trainings
  • What makes action groups really power
  • A range of tools and sample curriculum for action groups
  • Practising training skills
  • Applying lessons to future training relevant to your groups and campaigns

Your trainers for the day are Holly Hammond and Matt Ross. Holly is the director of Plan to Win and co-convenor of Plan to Thrive. Over the past twelve years she has provided training and facilitation services for many of Australia’s campaigning organisations. Matt Ross is a qualified social worker and experienced lead organiser. He founded a climate action group on the Gold Coast and is active in the Stop Adani campaign. Find out more about Holly and Matt.

This workshop is presented by Plan to Win and made possible by GetUp, Australian Conservation Foundation, Fight for Our Reef and #StopAdani. Participation is free for representatives from those organisations or campaigns. Tea/coffee/snacks provided, BYO lunch or money to buy it.
